Introducing the “Storytime” Reading Series!

Welcome to the Storytime reading series, the newest addition to the Teachers Together English curriculum! Available exclusively for our subscribers on thetutorresource.com, this series is designed to captivate A2 ESL learners ages 5 to 10.

Storytime bridges the gap between rote memorization and true language comprehension. By weaving essential ESL mechanics into exciting, multi-part narratives, children don’t just read English—they experience it.

What Children Will Learn

Our premiere three-part unit, The Story of Qu Yuan, takes students on a journey through ancient China to discover the origins of the Dragon Boat Festival. Across these three engaging lessons, students will master:

• Targeted Phonics: Lessons isolate and practice specific sounds, from individual letters like P and K to more complex blends like /dr/ and /sp/.
• Action-Oriented Sight Words: High-frequency words are paired with Total Physical Response (TPR) activities. Students will run in place for the word “fast”, mime eating for “eat”, and show an angry face for “mean”.
• Thematic Vocabulary: Each lesson introduces four core vocabulary words critical to the story, such as Poet, King, Sad, and River, building up to festive terms like Celebrate and Dumpling.
• Reading Comprehension & Sequencing: Students don’t just read; they analyze. Interactive checks ask students to sort character actions, determine true/false statements, and put the events of the story in chronological order.
